Twofold Brooch Knot.
This is the same as the ordi-
nary Brooch Knot (i. 89.) except that
a twofold instead of an overhand
is tied on the bight. The method
of making is the same as the first
method on p. 53 supra, and the ap-
pearance is as in figs 1. & 2, p 53,
a & [alpha] being, supposed formed to form the bight.
Uses: a possible substitute for the
ordinary brooch knot, but more troubel-
some to make. Seldom used.
Characteristics: Rather clumsier
and perhaps a little stronger than the ordinary
