take a up to b as in converting an
overhand into a half hitch (p.43.). Lastly
stop ^or hitch a to b. it is usual to work the lower coil
over & above the top one as figured above so as
Uses: To put a tail block on the fall
of a tackle (D.K. p642.ii) for a temporary purpose. (E.B.

Characteristics: This bears exactly the
same relation to a Twofold Knot that
a Half Hitch does to an Overhand. It is
a feeble & slovenly makeshift.
