(7) The following is a curious way of
making a weaver knot with flexible
cord &c. Make a ^loose running knot (overhand)
& pass the big end of the string to be
joined ^on through the bight ^loop of the running
knot. ^or make the running knot round it in the first instance.
Pull the running end part till its
loop runs out & the part brings a
bight of the end of string passed through
it ^the loop out on the other side.
The above figures show the method;
the first result of pulling a is fig 2; ^continue pulling a, or
cast c round ^ to the right of a & raise the bight at
the back a little, to get fig. 3. ^* The
reverse method of resolving the weavers
into running knots is illustrated on p. 1.
