The usual device
Uses: for running nooses - Jutsum
Texans and Californians (says Encyclopaedia of Sport) make the running noose on their lassos (or lazos) with "a
bowline on a bight, the end being put through. This is probably the

The knot may be finished off with a
half hitch taken with b round d if
desired. ( cf Dent: "Mountaineering" p 100.)
* make a bull loop on the end ^(which should be long) & lay it close to
the standing part (fig 1.). Take a back
across b in front & through the bull loop
from behind (fig 2); lastly take a across
behind the (near) side of the bight &
through the bull loop again from the
front (fig 3.) thus completing the bowline.
Tighten as desired. Or, proceed as follows:
