Sheepshank. (Running Knot.)

To make: Lay the rope as before (p.109);
make a small running knot near a with
a running & pull the bight c through
the loop of it. Do the same with b &
d, & let b be running. This need not
be seized, but may be for greater security.
It can be made when neither end
is free (i.59.)
Uses: See p. 109.
Characteristics: No free end necessary.
Seizing optional. Perhaps the best of the sheepshanks.
