Scaffolding Knot made at
Manor House before me
Sep. 1907. to lash cross
Make clove hitch at a;
twist short end round
long end as at b. Then
carry long end as in
diagram, finally turning under as at c.
Old rope is used; Every coil as made is
beaten down with the scaffolding ham-
mer. The knot as drawn is
loose. When made, the
twisted part at b is
under the coils. The
end at c is forced under
with the hammer. Each coil is strained
tight by taking a hitch round the
hammer handle & using it as a lever.
After that it is beaten.
