Unlay two rope ends with an equal number
of strands of equal size - here presumed
to be 3 strand hawsers. (Generally they are
two ends of the same short piece of rope
which it is intended to make into a strop.)
Wall the 6 strands together against the
lay as though they proceeded from a
single 6. strand rope, thus:-
