Uses:To join ropes without making
a big knot
Characteristics. The idea of the
Shroud Knot is the same as that
of the Fisherman's Knot (i.51.), but
single wall being a somewhat less
secure knot than an overhand, it
would be undesirable to interpose any
kind of "buffer" such as may be used
with advantage in the former case.
The effect of [sutching?] & then single
walling is to form the commencement of
a plait.
