Shroud Knot (??(2)
Other names: Shroud Splice (T.B. 2. 32.)
To make: Unlay the ends of the 2 ropes &
crutch them together as in fig 2. p214.
Proceed exactly as making the
shroud knot on p215, walling with the
lay of the rope, & convert each wall
into a pigtail (p165.) by carrying on
each end through another bight. (The
pigtail knots above are the reverse of
that on p165.) Treat the ends as usual -
(see p. 215.) A common plan is to taper them
& serve over, leaving the central knots unserved.
