163.) With 4 strand rope the procedure
is precisely similar.
Uses: p.217.
Characteristics: The effect of cratching
& then crowning is to form the commence-
ment of a plait. The knot acts on
quite a different principle from that
of the English Shroud Knot and, though
neater, is not nearly so secure.
