opening under 4 in the direction of the
arrow under the part of 4 where the
dot is, which part must be first lifted
with the marlinespike. Pull 2 fairly
tight. The position of 2 with regard to
4 is the same as that of 1 with regard
to 5, but as the two ends are passed
under strands at points one third of
the circumference apart they will not
project from under them on the same
side of the standing part, but will
make an angle of 120° with one another.
Assuming the position in fig 4, lift
3 ^back over the end of 2, bring it behind
the standing part to the right (laying
it up a little in its own lay in so
doing) & pass it down under 6 through
