It has been shown so in S2 5b 5c -
Take S2 6b 6c where Z = 2.
Join 10,9; 4,6; if 5
is joined to 11, there still
remain 7 & 8 to be dealt
with. But they must not
be joined or a twist will
result.
Can it be said that if
the twist is made, & the parts on each
side of it joined, & the parts on
each side of these again joined to
make a bight
through the new bt
a T.H. will result? No. There
remain uncut bights.
The rule however may be stated
more generally thus:- Any knot in S2
with 3 or more C. can be converted into
an i.k. in the form of a T.H. ^on 1 cord by cutting
