If cross turns are put on in an upright, not horizontal, plane.
1.Eyesplice.
2.Eyesplice & throatseizing.
3.Throat, middle & end seizings.
4. Racking seizing.
Any of these can be converted^made
into running loops for fitting round
dead-eyes, spars &c. by putting the
standing part through the eye, or
forming the eye round the standing
part. Nos 3 & 4 are often used in
that way: No 5 ^(see p132) if so used would form
[an inside or outside clinch with a
seizing too little.] It is meant to form*
