To make: Bend the rope to the
required angle and splice a short
piece of rope a b as shown in the
figure. The splices at a & b are
both eyesplices, but different. That
at a is the splice described on iii.p.
182, & that at b is the common form
(iii.173.) Parcel & serve.
Uses: as an eye when the two
parts of the rope are to be strained
