right of bpo in the right hand, and
pulling both hands away from b
so as to make it taut, roll them
round ^tightly towards it (fig4.) Continue to
roll them (fig 5) but so that the
next turn, s, of the standing part comes
round to the left of the first one,
r. Roll on until there are three
turns, 6 r, s, t, (fig 6). Then equalise
the bights by pulling them; bring
them both down side by side and
put the hook through. When the
strain is on ^applied the turns will unroll
to a certain extent & the bights will
twist (fig 1.) The turns will then ^probably jam,
but with still greater strain the position
in fig 7 will ^may be developed, where there is
a single bull loop round the twisted
bights. The jamming now becomes com-
plete and the catspaw remains stable.
