Sheer Lashing (1)
Other names: Portuguese Knot H.35.
Sheers are often spelt "Jeers" (N.)
To make: Put on whipping no 2
but with sufficiently strong
rope & as few extra cross turn
s or so . Then
draw the sheer legs apart so that
they cross one another. This tightens
the lashing considerably & would break
it if carried too far.
Uses: to lash sheers.
