Characteristics: If the arrangement
is held more or less as ^ in the position shown
in fig 3, a downward pull on a will
run out the whole knot, owing to
the standing part running
. both bights,
leaving an overhand knot.
More bights than the two shown
(c & d) may be made at the com-
mencement in these Bell-ringer’s
hitches.
If the hitch is desired to
run right off without leaving
an overhand on pulling a, tuck
a back, making a draw overhand
(i.e. a running knot) whi in place
of the overhand in figs 1, 3, 6.
