Quiper form : To make : Make as many
coils as are desired, with a lay op-
posite to that of the lay of the
cord or rope ^for preference, and pass one end
up at right angles to & down
through the coils, as figured above.
Tighten the coils by manipulation.
It will be observed that a 2-fold
has 2 coils, a 3-fold 3 coils, &so on,
a bight running at right angles outside
them in every case.
