To make: According to the lay of the
rope make a pair of 2-fold knots
as shown in figs 1 or 4, each knot
being made round the standing part
of the one of the cords x who In
making tightening the knot, which should be
of the blood knot form, ignore this
enclosed standing part. Having tightened
the knots independently as in fig 2,
draw b from <Beta>.
In the case of gut lines or
plaited cords either form (figs 1-3 or
4 & 5) may be used, but the effect
will not be good if a knot of fig 1
is combined with one of fig 4. which
would involve a repetition of the
mistake made by the Alpine Club
committee in their 1864 Report
with regard to the overhand Fisherman's
Knot.
