Uses: As a substitute for the
ordinary Fisherman's Knot when the
gut to be joined is very limp. See
i.51.
Characteristics: See i.51. The 2
2-fold knots are similar in each
pair. They are made with the
lay, not against it as is desirable
in the overhand Fisherman's Knot.
This is because the Twofold Knot
has an outer lay contrary to the
inner one, and it is [desire?] necessary
to ensure the outer coils settling
properly.
