Bootlace knot. (See IX. 27 for the same as a ^double bow.)
A common form consists of an open-~
hand + a 2-fold running knot, thus:-
[two diagrams] 1. 2.
[diagram] 3. Commence as 1. Pass b
twice round the bow as 2.
The bight over the knot
naturally falls down, so that the form
3 is obtained. Pull taut by straining
the bow & b apart. Loosen by pulling
the running end a. ([Epsilon?] 1906.)
Note that the part [Beta], if strained,
also runs. Still the knot answers
its purpose, as in point of fact there
is no strain on [Beta].
