Twofold Granny.

To make: Tie a twofold half knot as
in fig 1, p 1. Then tie a second as shown
in fig 1 supra. The two twofolds must be
similar or a Twofold Reef (p 59 supra )
will result.
Uses: p 59.
Characteristics: An extended granny knot.
Cf. p 59. On tightening, owing to the
winding process of grannies
(see 1. 245) the knot tends to take the
form shown in fig 2. The strain may
be on a or b or both. It differs from
the reef twofold in that the latter does
not tend to change its form. ^ when Once tight, A per-
fectly safe knot , and if b is taken outside
the bight, prettier than the reef twofold
