Characteristics: A twofold knot
(quipu form) with the short
end secured by a half hitch
or seizing. The strain is on b
which runs & tightens the knot
in the common form (fig 1.) In the
seized form, if the seizing holds
[Added: tight,] b does not run, and a needlessly
elaborate form of loop is the result;
if the seizing slacks, b runs, and
a half hitch would be as serviceable
as the seizing in most cases.

No object is gained by adopting
the blood knot form instead of the
quipu. If it is desired to do so
it is merely necessary in figs 1 & 2
to lift the top of the turn c
over d, and the blood knot form
results.

If instead of the half hitch
in fig 1 another twofold were tied with
a round b, an exact counterpart
