[It will be noticed from the
analysis that 1 is always under 6,
2, under 5, 3 under 4.] Therefore It
is possible to make an arrangement
as on p 127 fig 1, but the 6 cords
will require 6 pins. Having knotted
them & placed them as in fig 1. p 127,
lay the one nearest the chest across
to the left & bring the opposite one
across on the right towards the chest just as with 4 cords. T[??].
Revolve the bump & horizontally with the hands of a watch through
60[degree symbol] & do the same with the next
pair, & so on continuously. If pre-
ferred you can begin by laying
the cord nearest the chest across
on hte right (as in fig 4 on p 127.)
In that case every cord as it comes
opposite the chest must go across
on the right, & the bung must be
revolved against the hands of a watch
or a [??] strand laid up hawser will result
(If they go across on the right & the bung
with the watch, 2 3-strand cable laid cords are laid together.hawser-wise
