Scale and ring Puzzle.
Take a piece of card 2 1/2" square. Make
a hole at each corner big enough to
take 3 strands of thin twine, A, B, C, D.
In centre bore 4 small
holes a,a;b,b. Take
4 pieces of twine 6 to
7" long. Put one through
each corner hole, tying a toggles or stops of
some kind to prevent them slipping through.
Take another piece of twine
about 8" long; pass the
ends down through a a
& up through b b, and
allowing enough slack to
make a little loop l. Tie the 6 ends to-
gether with a brooch knot at k. Then
take a small finger ring, place it over
the loop l; draw l up through it, put
l down through A, over the toggle; pull
it back; put down through B, over toggle
& pull back; pass it over K, down through
C & D successively as A & B. The ring is
then fixed. To release, reverse. Don't twist
