"N & Q." 4th S. viii. 372 describes it, & con-
cludes it to be a Reef knot. But
refer to this passage.
"N & Q" 9th S. xii. 313. (replying to my query
in do. 188 ) says - " I find this in
Seneca. Ep 87. Unis tibi nodus, sed
Herculaneus restat." Also in Pliny
xxviii. 6. In Coles's Latin Dictionary
it is called a Love Knot. I have
only met with it in late Latin
