To join the twine proceeding from
the knot just made to the mesh
on the left, proceed as follows:-
Lap the slack twine over the
mesh on the left at b’ and
pass the needle up through
the interstices, ^ (fig 13) pulling tight and
nipping with the thumb & finger
as before. Throw a bight over
to the left and again pass
the needle under the overlapping
strands to the left and up
through the bight (fig 14); pull tight
under the thumb as before.
These knots may be made without
the needle if preferred by tying
them as on p 14, the loop a in
fig 9, being represented by
a little bight of the side of the
mesh. The slack twine should
in this case be no longer than
