Start as fig 1. with bottom
rung of ladder which is to be at
top. Place upper part of lower
ladder in position, rung to rung.
Twist one rope to R, the other to
L tightly, & continue up round
sides, tucking in the ends.
Place the ladders against
the wall with the foot of the
upper ladder underneath the
head of the lower one.

It would be best to put on a
second similar lashing as many rungs
away from the first as the overlapping
of the ladders will permit.
The bottom lashing, if of ordinary
sash cord size, must be at least 15 yds
long & would be better if 20 yards. The
top lashing need not be so elaborate. It
may be 6 yards & only round the rungs.
