Diagonal Lashing .
Lay the poles diagonally across
one another. Commence with Timber
Hitch or Clove Hitch, on upper part of rear pole (to L)
as fig. 1. (p 87) & bring rope round behind
& across to in front to L & so round
again 3 or 4 times. Tighten throughout
as Square Lashing (p 86 94) Then, from the
position in fig.2 bring the rope down
in front & up behind 3 or 4 times.
Finish with a Clove Hitch as in fig 3.
Tighten & wedge if necessary.
Lay the coils alongside one another,
& use no more than necessary. Rope,
as for Square Lashing.
Frapping turns may be taken. About
as much rope as for Square Lashing
if 4 turns are taken each way & frapping
is used - or a little more - say 4 or 5
extra circumferences in inches-
