Crochet.
Make a firm loop & form chain of
number of stitches required - say 6. Then
at end make an extra loop as in fig 1.
Having this on hook, pass hook through
f & pull slack through making a
2nd loop on hook (figs 2, 3) Pull slack
through these 2 loops, getting 1 loop on
needle (fig. 4). Proceed as in fig 2, but
pull slack through next bight on left
viz e & get 2 loops. Pull slack
through these & get 1 loop, & so on.
At end of line turn work, and through
single loop last obtained make the extra
loop above it as fig 1, giving 1 loop on
needle. Then go on as before, the
hook passing under the 2 strands of
the loops through bights corresponding
to a, b, c &c.
At the end the first loop may project &
have to be sewn in, or the knot be untied
& reformed.
