Doubled stitch sometimes the needle is
accidentally passed as fig 1. Either the
slack is pulled right through by itself
as fig 2, in which case the no. of stitches
is not increased, or, more often, 2 threads
are taken onto the R.H.needle as fig 3,
resulting in an extra stitch (often crossing
the other.) In either case correct if possible
or- in the latter- knit the doubled stitch
as one in the following row.
<Casting on </u>: 2nd method (see p.98.) Put a slip
loop on L needle. Knit 1 onto this with R
slip knitted stitch off R needle onto L. do-
alongside original loop. Then knit onto the
knitted & slipped loop: slip from R. to L. as before,
& so on.
Casting off : 2nd method (see p.102.) Withdraw the
needle & form a chain of the loops (cf p.95. fig 1.)
